The Northshore of Maui is set a part from the rest of the island. It has a small beach town feeling about it. When I first came to Northshore you could walk down Hana Hwy in the middle of the road and there was no traffic. You might find the owner of Charlie's restaurant famous Great Dane laying in the middle of the road.
These days Paia Maui has become a very international destination from people all over the world. Paia town, was an old plantation town in the sugar cane and pineapple era. It is now a booming beach town. Paia offers locals and travelers a like a place to stop and enjoy the day. Many mornings after a surf we meet in Anthony's Coffee for a cup of hot java and talk story.

Paia also offers great food like Miraglos, Fish Market and Flatbreads. A great place for organic pizza and ale. So you will find top windsurfers like the Prittchard Bros, The Goya's, Naishand Simmers. Then Maui's young surfers are making a mark on the international pro surfing scene. So Maui attracts the waterman from all over the world. You will also find the free spirited individual that loves the tropical feel and country life on the northshore.

So you will find the North Shore of Maui to be very multi-cultural. I love the diversity of people and lifestyles that make the Northshore the special place that it is. You never know who you will meet. Even the stars like hanging in Paia. So there you go, Maui's northshore a true island experience.
